Lima Airport Wi-Fi is free: choose .FreeWifiJorgeChavez and accept the airport's terms page. Use it to confirm your ride and save the details of any later flight to Cusco, then rely on mobile data or offline copies once you leave the terminal. A data-only Peru eSIM from co:sim can cover the journey after airport Wi-Fi ends, but no plan guarantees reception along every mountain road.
Lima Airport Partners, the operator of Jorge Chávez International Airport, names the network .FreeWifiJorgeChavez on its official Wi-Fi page. Open your phone's Wi-Fi list, select that name, and accept the displayed conditions. The page describes free access and does not publish a fixed session length there, so do not plan around a time limit repeated by an older travel blog. On-site signs and the live operator page are more useful than an archived screenshot.
If the terms page does not appear, open a normal browser tab and wait for the portal. Try the official network again after moving into another public area if the signal is weak. Avoid entering sensitive passwords into a network whose name only resembles the operator's spelling. When a VPN interferes with a captive portal, pause it briefly only if you trust the network, then restore your usual protection. You can also ask an airport information desk to confirm the SSID without handing a stranger your phone.
The image shows the airport in an earlier period; it is not a map of today's pickup doors. For live pickup instructions, use the airport operator's transport pages and the signs in front of you. co:sim sends an eSIM QR code by email after purchase, so a traveler who installs before departure can keep a separate mobile-data route ready without depending on airport Wi-Fi to set up the plan at baggage claim. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked before buying.
Save your hotel's full street address, the booking's pickup instructions and the name of the person meeting you. Tell that person when you have cleared baggage, then screenshot the reply. A late change to a meeting point is easier to handle while still inside the terminal than after you have walked into a busy roadway. If you travel with someone else, agree on one meeting point in advance rather than splitting up to search for a driver.
The airport's authorized-taxi information says taxi counters are in national and international arrivals and that staff direct passengers to the boarding area. Check the current operator and destination with the counter before entering a vehicle. Save the counter name and booking reference before leaving Wi-Fi range; use the terminal signs and your reservation to find the vehicle.

Once you have left the airport Wi-Fi footprint, maps and messaging need mobile data. The co:sim Peru page lists live plan options and their network, data allowance and validity terms, while the South America regional page is worth comparing only if your itinerary actually crosses a border. A regional label alone is not proof that every place or route you visit will have usable signal. Keep essential addresses, tickets and a map area downloaded even when you buy data.
Treat Lima arrival and a later Cusco flight as separate travel tasks. First confirm the airline's current terminal, check-in and baggage rules in its own booking channel. Then keep the next flight's booking reference and your passport information accessible offline. Do not assume an international arrival feeds directly into a domestic gate or that baggage will automatically follow you. Airline and airport procedures can change, so a generic blog should not promise a connection time.
Before boarding the onward flight, download the Cusco hotel address and any arranged airport pickup instructions. Maps may show a route while offline, but they cannot update a delayed driver or retrieve a changed flight status. A data-only Peru plan is useful for those live messages when mobile coverage is available; it does not include an ordinary telephone number or SMS. If a hotel insists on calling, keep your home line's calling option or arrange an internet call over data.
For a road trip beyond Cusco, use Peru's OSIPTEL coverage checker to inspect the places you will actually visit. A plan that works in Lima is not evidence of coverage on a particular mountain road. Write down the next address and agree on a rendezvous point before entering a stretch where the operator map looks thin. This distinction matters more than a broad promise of “nationwide” connectivity.
Airport Wi-Fi and an eSIM use different networks. If .FreeWifiJorgeChavez connects but mobile data does not, check that the travel eSIM is enabled, selected for data and permitted to use data roaming according to its installation instructions. Read the selected plan page and your delivery email for the underlying network and billing-start rule; do not delete a profile just because a first connection takes time. Try outside the terminal and compare the phone's network selection with the plan instructions.
Conversely, if mobile data works and the airport portal does not, finish urgent pickup messages over your own connection rather than troubleshooting the captive portal at the curb. If neither works, return to the airport information desk, use saved booking details, and ask the official transport counter for help. Avoid changing multiple phone settings at once, because that makes the cause harder to find when one connection returns.
Lima Airport Partners identifies the free network as .FreeWifiJorgeChavez on its current Wi-Fi page. Select that exact SSID and accept the conditions in the sign-in window. The operator page does not give a fixed session duration, so a claimed minute limit from another site should not drive your connection plan. Use the airport service to retrieve your ride details, message the person meeting you and save your next ticket. Once you leave the airport, that Wi-Fi connection ends; offline maps will show saved streets but cannot send a changed address. A co:sim Peru eSIM can provide separate mobile data for messaging and navigation when its partner network has coverage. It is data-only, so it does not supply a new phone number or conventional SMS. Keep the booking address and a backup way to reach your driver even if both connections work on arrival.
Yes: the free terminal connection can load a ride booking or message your driver before you leave the building. The airport's taxi page directs travelers to authorized counters in national and international arrivals. If several people share a pickup, agree on one named meeting point and exchange the driver's vehicle details before leaving the terminal. Confirm your exact pickup point, save the address offline and screenshot any driver message. Airport Wi-Fi does not follow you outside; a co:sim data-only Peru plan can keep map and messaging apps working on the way when mobile coverage is present. It cannot place a normal voice call by itself. If a driver only accepts calls, use your existing phone line under your carrier's terms or agree on an internet-calling app in advance. Always verify the vehicle and operator before boarding.
A Peru eSIM is a way to buy mobile data, not a guarantee of continuous signal. The airport's Wi-Fi is limited to the terminal, while mobile reception depends on the plan's partner network and the place where your phone connects. Peru's regulator provides the OSIPTEL coverage checker, which is more useful for testing specific districts than a general country claim. Check your hotel area, onward stops and any overland route separately. For a flight to Cusco, retain flight and pickup details offline in case reception is slow immediately after landing. The co:sim Peru destination page shows the current plan options; compare those with your trip length and data needs. Its data-only plans can support maps and messaging when coverage exists, but not a local phone number or regular SMS. If a key booking depends on a text sent to your home number, keep that line available too.
Check the live Peru plans from co:sim while you can still compare the terms calmly. Save the ride and Cusco details offline before leaving Lima Airport.

Travel TipsTake the Keisei Skyliner if your hotel is in Ueno, Asakusa or north-east Tokyo: it reaches Nippori in as little as 36 minutes for ¥2,580. Take the Narita Express if you are staying near Tokyo Station, Shinjuku, Shibuya or Yokohama, because it runs straight there, and the ¥5,200 round-trip ticket brings each leg close to the Skyliner fare.
Travel TipsTake bus 86 if you are travelling light, land before mid-evening and are staying near Hoan Kiem Lake: it costs about 45,000 dong and takes 50 to 70 minutes. Take a Grab if there are two or more of you, you have big bags or you land late, because one car to the Old Quarter usually costs about 230,000 to 320,000 dong and drops you at the door.
Travel TipsTake the KLIA Ekspres if you are travelling alone or as a pair and your hotel is near KL Sentral or a rail line: it reaches KL Sentral in 28 minutes from Terminal 1 for RM55, less 10% if you buy online. Take a Grab if three or more of you are going to a hotel away from KL Sentral, because one car fare usually costs less than three train tickets and drops you at the door.
