For most visitors travelling from Krakow Airport to the city, the train is the simplest choice when the hotel is near Kraków Główny, the main railway station. Choose a bus when its actual stops suit your address, or an official airport taxi when luggage and a door-to-door arrival matter more than the fare. A co:sim data-only eSIM (embedded SIM) can help you check that final connection, but it does not replace a transport ticket.
Start with your accommodation's street address, rather than the word “centre” in its description. A station-area hotel, an Old Town apartment and a property in Kazimierz can require different final journeys. Compare the complete route: terminal to departure point, waiting, travel, then the walk or onward connection to your door.
| Option | Best fit | What to check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Airport train | Staying near the main station; avoiding road traffic | Next departure and the route from Kraków Główny to your hotel |
| City bus | An address close to a useful stop or onward connection | Current stops, agglomeration ticket coverage and validation |
| Official airport taxi | Several bags, a group or a difficult final walk | The distance band for your precise address and vehicle capacity |
The train is a good default, rather than an automatic winner. A cheaper bus can involve an awkward change; a taxi can save effort without saving time in traffic. Travellers with reduced mobility should assess the whole route, including station exits and their accommodation entrance, before booking.
Follow the railway signs from the terminal. The airport's train page places the station behind the multistorey car park, connected to the terminal by a covered footbridge. That makes finding the train more straightforward than searching the forecourt for an unfamiliar bus stop.
The service is SKA1, operated by Koleje Małopolskie, linking the airport, Kraków Main Station and Wieliczka. For a central Kraków arrival, choose Kraków Główny, not a destination farther along the line. Check the departure display as well as your app, particularly if engineering work changes the usual service.
The same official page lists the airport-to-main-station fare as PLN 20, with luggage carried free. Tickets can be bought from the on-train machine, the operator's website, the conductor or selected electronic channels including KOLEO and Jakdojade. The airport says the on-train machine and conductor accept cash or payment cards. These are current listed options, not a promise that every machine will work on arrival.

Keep the ticket accessible throughout the journey. If you need help buying it, speak to the conductor rather than assuming a transport pass or a screenshot of a payment covers this railway service. Check the ticket's date, origin and destination before leaving the purchase screen.
Do not base a dinner booking on a generic journey-time estimate. The scheduled train ride is only one part of the transfer: baggage delivery, waiting for departure and reaching your hotel can take longer than the ride itself. Use the operator timetable linked from the airport page for your travel date.
The airport's public-bus page currently lists daytime routes 209 and 300, plus night route 902. It describes them as agglomeration services. Older guides can list a different route set, so use the live timetable links rather than memorising an old bus number.
A bus earns its place when its stops get you closer to the hotel or make a sensible tram connection. It is less attractive if the apparent saving leaves you changing vehicles with heavy bags. Enter the accommodation address in a journey planner and inspect the walk from the proposed final stop, not just the arrival time.
The airport currently lists a normal single-trip/30-minute ticket at PLN 6, a 60-minute ticket at PLN 8 and a 90-minute ticket at PLN 9. These figures are from its official bus page. Pick the ticket whose conditions cover the actual journey and any changes; the cheapest timed option is not automatically sufficient for a long airport transfer.
For passes, read the zone coverage carefully. The airport distinguishes Zone I tickets from Zone I+II+III options. Do not assume a city-only pass includes an airport trip simply because it works on a tram in the centre. Ticket machines are listed in the arrivals hall and at the bus stop. Validate the ticket when boarding, as the airport instructs; for an app ticket, follow the app's activation instructions.
Kraków Airport Taxi is identified as the only official airport taxi service on the airport's taxi page. Its published system uses distance bands, rather than one universal “city-centre price”.
For example, the official table lists PLN 109 for 12–14.9 km and PLN 129 for 15–18.9 km. Those are examples of tariff bands, not quotes for your hotel. Confirm where the exact destination falls before riding. The page says its flat fares apply regardless of journey duration, weekday or time of day, for one destination, and that payment cards are accepted.
A group should compare the total vehicle charge with all passengers' train tickets plus any onward transport. Ask about the number of seats, bags and any child-seat requirement. A fare divided between adults is useful arithmetic; a vehicle that cannot carry everyone's luggage is not a workable transfer.
An app-based ride or a hotel-arranged car is another option, but it has its own price and pickup instructions. Do not apply the official airport taxi tariff to an unrelated driver. Keep the booking details and confirm the vehicle before boarding.
Kraków Główny is a transport hub, not the doorstep of every central accommodation. Before leaving the station, choose the exit that fits your onward walk or tram. A pedestrian shortcut that looks attractive on a map may be uncomfortable with suitcases, bad weather or an inaccessible building entrance.

For an Old Town stay, ask your host which entrance you should use and whether vehicles can reach it. For Kazimierz, compare an onward public-transport connection with a direct airport taxi. Avoid assuming that either neighbourhood is a single point with a fixed walking time from the station.
Save the address in its original Polish spelling, your host's check-in instructions and a map of the final approach. co:sim's Poland data plans provide mobile data rather than a Polish phone number, so keep a messaging contact as well as any telephone number you may need.
Check the actual departure options after collecting luggage. Night route 902 is listed by the airport, but that alone does not establish a departure every few minutes or a stop beside your hotel. Likewise, a daytime train recommendation does not mean the railway runs through the night.
Have a fallback address-to-door option and tell the accommodation if your arrival slips beyond its check-in arrangements. During a rail interruption, check official instructions before assuming the normal ticket buys a particular replacement bus. Screenshots help preserve booking references, but an old screenshot is not a current timetable.
Arrange connectivity while you still have a reliable internet connection. With co:sim, check device compatibility, install from the supplied instructions and choose the travel eSIM for mobile data when appropriate. Keep your home line's data roaming off if you want to avoid accidental roaming charges; the travel line may need its own roaming setting enabled according to its instructions.
For a wider itinerary, compare the European regional plans against every country on your route. co:sim's plan listings show networks and plan details; check the chosen package instead of interpreting the regional URL as a coverage guarantee.
Compare Poland eSIM data plansThe airport train is usually the easiest starting point for a visitor staying near Kraków Główny, but the best transfer depends on the accommodation's exact address. The airport's official train page lists the SKA1 service and a PLN 20 fare to the main station, with luggage free. That does not include every onward journey to an Old Town or Kazimierz property. Compare the station exit, final walk and any tram connection before buying. A city bus can suit an address near its actual stops; a taxi can be easier for travellers with several bags or limited mobility. Use live departure information after baggage collection rather than comparing only scheduled riding times. A co:sim Poland data-only plan can support route checks and messages on the way, but the transport fare remains a separate purchase.
Do not assume that one Kraków city ticket covers both the airport bus and the airport train. The airport lists its buses as agglomeration routes and presents tickets with different time and zone conditions. Its separate railway page describes train-ticket purchase channels and the fare to Kraków Główny. Check the specific ticket product's terms before travelling, especially if a pass is valid only in Zone I or if your route includes a change. Validate a paper bus ticket on boarding, and follow the activation instructions for an electronic ticket. Keep the purchase confirmation accessible for inspection. Mobile data from co:sim can help open the relevant app or ticket information, but it does not activate a transport ticket automatically. If the ticket's validity is unclear, ask staff before relying on it rather than treating a successful payment as proof of the right fare.
For a late arrival at Krakow Airport, choose from services that are actually operating after you have collected your bags. Check the airport's live bus and rail timetable links, and keep the official taxi service as a possible fallback if public transport no longer fits your hotel. The airport lists night bus 902, but you still need its current departure and stop information. An official taxi's distance-band fare should be confirmed for the precise destination; a different booking service may use a different tariff. Save the accommodation address and late-check-in instructions offline before flying. Contact the host if a delay changes your arrival arrangement. A direct ride can be worthwhile with heavy bags, children or mobility constraints, while public transport remains reasonable when the actual timetable and final walk work. Neither option warrants a guaranteed arrival time.
Choose the transfer that reaches your actual door with a manageable final leg. Before flying, compare co:sim's Poland plans, save the transport sources and keep one practical fallback for your arrival.
