Jersey is a short flight from London or a ferry ride from France or the south coast of England, and it feels very British: pounds, red post boxes and English spoken everywhere. For your phone, though, Jersey is its own jurisdiction. It is a Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, and it was never part of the EU or the EEA. That means your UK or EU plan may treat it as a roaming destination, sometimes at a high rate. co:sim's Jersey eSIM connects to JT, the island's largest operator, with 5G listed on the plan page. This guide covers the roaming situation, the plan options, coverage and a quirk of the island's east coast.
UK phone plan: some UK carriers include Jersey in your home allowance or in their Europe roaming zone; others charge it as a separate destination. Check your carrier's list of included destinations before you travel.
EU or EEA phone plan: EU roaming rules do not apply in Jersey, because it is outside the EU. Charges depend on your carrier.
Other international plans: expect standard international roaming rates. A prepaid eSIM is usually far cheaper.
The Jersey eSIM runs on JT (5G). At the time of writing (October 2026):

Combining Jersey with the UK or France? The Europe (42 areas) plan covers Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the UK, France and most of Europe on one eSIM. It is the easiest option for island hopping or for arriving via Saint-Malo.
Jersey is about 14km by 8km, and coverage is strong across St Helier, the main bays and the roads between parishes. Signal can be weaker at the foot of cliffs, in some coastal car parks on the north coast, and inside the thick granite walls of castles and war tunnels.
The east-coast quirk: Jersey is only around 20km from the French coast. On the east side of the island, around Gorey and Mont Orgueil, phones sometimes connect to French networks instead of Jersey ones. If you are on a Jersey-only plan and data stops working there, open your network settings and manually select JT, or use a regional plan that includes France.
